He doesn’t believe her. Not when she’s begging and pleading – which is totally not a good look on her – or when she’s standing at the doorway with the moonstone in her hand.
She’s an epic liar. It’s all she’s ever been good at, lying and manipulating others to do her bidding. But this time he won’t back down. He won’t give in to the snivelling idiot inside him that’s screaming how it might be real. It’s not. Elena is not in danger, and even if she is, she’s better off with Katherine trapped in the tomb than wandering around free “protecting” her.
Still, moving the doorway, locking into place takes more out of him than he anticipates.
A hundred and forty-five years and she’s finally exactly where she belongs. And she’ll stay there.
Her screams echo as he walks away from the old church grounds.
