I'm glad that you enjoyed it. It's always a little bit unnerving to step into a new fandom. I really extrapolated this from canon, from Jeremy's experiences. I truly believe that something as important as a declaration like Damon's could not go unacknowledge. Like Jeremy said, he still knew that something was wrong even though he'd been glamoured. He just didn't understand WHY he felt that way. It's almost worse somehow. And I love the fact that his presence cannot possibly go unknown. He left her with her necklace and she's going to ask questions or at the very least wonder about how she got it.
